Twenty new self-service libraries have just opened for residents in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi Province. Readers can borrow and return books at the nearby library via their smartphones. The service was started by the Taiyuan Library in 2021 and there are a total of 68 of such libraries across the city. Readers can also use an app to select their books in advance, which can then be delivered to a designated self-service library.
